Monica Shriver Presents

Join us for an intimate all-ages performance where sound and color collide in a beautiful gallery located in a historic building in Downtown Nashville. This immersive show features Monica Shriver’s experimental jazz quartet performing live alongside her art projections, as well as a variety of ways to connect and interact, including a pop-up art gallery, artist Q&A, and a community art creation. (No experience needed and art supplies provided!)

Once the sun sets, the quartet will perform a set which includes original compositions (including 2 written special for this show), spontaneous group improvisations, and arranged standards alongside projected abstract art creating a compelling fusion of sound and image. At the end of the evening, the quartet will perform a special improvisational piece inspired by the community’s collaborative art piece that was created together.

Jazz Influences and V.I.C.E. V.E.R.S.A.” is an immersive series featuring experimental jazz (original compositions, spontaneous group improvisations, and arranged standards) and abstract art projected in the background. The event is designed to explore how playing jazz influences (and values) Vulnerability, Improvisation, Collaboration, Exploration, Versatility, Experimentation, Representation, Space, Authenticity and how those things influence playing jazz, historically and currently.
